(no subject)

This part is this contraption is supposed to be used for more personal entries, perhaps it is time that I should use it.

Today was All Souls' Day. Tis the first time since my childhood that I had followed the customs for it. Rosalee had no proper grave since she was burned, but Julia and I had made a small memorial for her. We had also made one for Issac. I thought I would be sadden by the whole act, but somehow I feel more a peace.

Some of the traditions of this day still seem somewhat odd to me. Julia insisted on leaving food out for the departed souls. Though I imagine that animals that live in these mountains will be more interested in food then the souls.

The holiday has become a little less about souls and a little more about candy over time.

Who was Rosalee?

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
About candy? How so?

Rosalee... She was a kind hearted woman, whom I loved very much. She was falsely accused of being a witch, and thus was burned at the stake.

Oh, people jumped to so many stupid conclusions a long time ago.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
She was actually framed. I cannot blame the villagers for coming to such a conclusion.

There wasn't any such thing as witches. And those people were just perverts who wanted to torture all the women.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Men have also been accused of being witches as well as women.

There are actual witches in my world, just most people have the wrong impression of them. Julia is an actual witch, and the church has witches in employment to help hunt for dark creatures.

[personal profile] maraich 2009-11-03 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
That's strange.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
How so?
maraich: (Thinking)

[personal profile] maraich 2009-11-03 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
There were never real witches on my world.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2009-11-03 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I must confess, I have always wondered why material possessions are offered to the departed. After all, if they could effect the material world, death would mean nothing.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 03:38 am (UTC)(link)
I see. They're actually quite common in my world. Though there are a few who do follow the darker arts and swear allegiance to those like Lord Dracula, many of them are good.
maraich: (cutie)

[personal profile] maraich 2009-11-04 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
Dracula? I thought it was Satan.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 03:40 am (UTC)(link)
In a way, the dead do affect the material world. Mainly those who are still breathing. Tis more of a comfort to those who are alive then to those who have passed on.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
Dracula is the Dark Lord made into flesh. In away, you can say that he is the physical manifestation of Satan.
maraich: (Is that a giant duck out the window?)

[personal profile] maraich 2009-11-04 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
I thought he was based on superstition of some sort. I didn't think they were connected at all.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
There is some kind of connection, considering Dracula commands Death.
maraich: (Thinking)

[personal profile] maraich 2009-11-04 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I guess so.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 11:15 am (UTC)(link)
Excuse me? Do you mean the undead, or are you being poetic?

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you not agree that the living grieve for the dead? If the living grieve for those who had passed on then the dead do have a way off affecting the material world without becoming one of the undead.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah. I see. I completely agree, actually. I believe that the way to honor the dead is to do what they themselves cannot. For my comrades who cannot be with me anymore, I continue to do their work for them. In that sense, they are still changing the world.

Normally I wouldn't have asked you to clarify, but since coming here I have become friends with a pair of zombies and met the personification of Death itself. I'm having to make sure I'm clear on what people are saying more often than usual.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
That is understandable, though I was unaware that there were zombies here. It seems far fetched that a zombie would be able to use such devices, much less two of them. I have also met this Death as well. She is very different from what one would have thought Death would be like.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, they're very different from the stereotype. Nothing at all like the kind that recently swarmed our various worlds. As far as I can, they're more or less like normal people, just with some unfortunate afflictions beyond their control.

['Maybe what YOU would have thought death would be like, but I doubt you understand death like I do.']
Yes, she's a truly amazing woman. So very kind and understanding, don't you think? I think it makes sense. Death itself is not something to be pained over, and it treats us all the same.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Interesting....

That is true. She is nothing like the Death that is under Lord Dracula's command. He causes death while she is present only when one dies.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2009-11-04 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I would reveal more, but it's not really my place. But this place does have so many interesting people and things, and coming from me, that's very impressive.

Excuse me, did you say Dracula? As in the vampire?

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-05 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, Dracula the vampire lord.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2009-11-05 11:49 am (UTC)(link)
Now that is exactly what I mean by interesting. On my world, Dracula is fictional, and vampires are possibly fictional. They might be real-almost all the myths and legends on my world are.

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-05 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
So I have been told. A member of the community has gotten me a copy of the book that portrays him.

[identity profile] nevergiveitback.livejournal.com 2009-11-05 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Was it accurate?

[identity profile] devil-forge.livejournal.com 2009-11-05 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I not had time to read it just yet.
